SEBI initiated investor awareness programme

Commerce Association of Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara conducted an online investor awareness program on 25 January 2021, Monday at 2.00 P.m. via google meet. This was a SEBI initiated investor awareness programme presented by Sri.Manoj TN, Ex AGM IDBI Bank, BFSI trainer. The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of Dr.Mariamma Mathew , (principal , Peet Memorial Training College ) and convened by Dr.Renginy K.R.(Assistant professor in Commerce , Peet Memorial Training College ). This programme was conducted online before the official inauguration of Commerce association 2021due to COVID restrictions.

  • Need for financial goals and financial discipline
  • Investment options ( Asset Class)for individuals
  • Types of mutual fund schemes
  • How to mitigate the risk involved in each of the asset class and protect yourself from dubious investment campaigns

With the intention of making students aware about the stock-trading and capital-market, the lecture was held for the students of various B.Ed. Colleges in which Sri.Manoj TN was the lecturer for the session. The lecture started with the introduction to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He explained how financial well-being is important factor for happiness, health and peace. Students were told about topics like financial planning, the role of SEBI, buying and selling of shares, mutual funds and investor grievance redressal mechanism. Investment strategies such as diversification and asset allocation were explained through suitable cases. He also discussed about the three important considerations for a financial product- Safety, Liquidity and Return. Further, he briefed about financial regulators and various components that constitute financial market such as security market, banking,insurance,pension and commodity derivatives.

The session was an interactive and informative one, which helped to clear the doubts that popped-up in the minds of the teacher students. After the class an interactive session was held where students raised their queries and the resource person cleared their doubts in most efficient manner. 75 students joined the session and e-certificates are awarded to all participants.
