College Profile
The peet memorial training college, mavelikara was founded in 1960 in memory of the Rev. Joseph peet , who was one of the leading missionaries, sent by the CMS to south India. He came to mavelikara in 1836 not only to spread the gospel, but also to uplift the downtrodden. He was mainly instrumental in popularizing education in the area. The college is governed by a council, constituted by the Diocese of Madhya Kerala of the Church of South India.
The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala, accredited by NAAC, at B++ level, recognized by the NCTE and offers a one year teachers training course leading to the degree of bachelor of education in six subject: English, Mathematics, Natural science, Physical Science, social studies and commerce with sanctioned strength of 150 masters degree in education (M.Ed.) is also being offered from 2005-2006.
M.Ed. course was started in the college in 2006 in the self financing sector with a sanctioned strength of 12 students. Right from the inceptions, eminent scholars and able administrators have served as principals. The college has been giving initiative in starting innovative programmes in the field of research, education and extension services. The results in the University examinations have been consistently excellent and the college has carved a niche for itself in the field of Teachers Education in Kerala.
The vision of this great philanthropist is adopted as the vision of the college.
1. – To produce sincers,commited and responsible teachers to strive for excellence in every field of life.
2. –To develop the spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic powers of the students so that they may be good citizens of the society.
3. –To encourage teacher education among the weaker socially disadvan tagged sections of the society.
4. –To be agents for social changes leading to the progress of our Mother land.
Educational progress depends on the caliber of the teachers who prepare men and women of quality required for the country. The college desires to inculcate in the students knowledge and appreciation of those values which will lead to become devoted and talented teachers.

Vision
Rev. Joseph peet, the C.M.S. missionary from England had a broad vision of the land when he landed here in 1836. His vision was focused on different areas like promotion of holistic development of students, human rights and justice, social upliftment by eradicating castism, untouchability, women empowerment through female education and vecationalised education.The vision of this great philanthropist is adopted as the vision of the college.

The college is established to provide teacher’s training to the young men and women of our country especially to the members of C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese. It also extends to the members of all other communities and religions as per Articles 14 and 15 of the Indian constitution.
